Wind Energy Development Site Selection Using an Integrated Fuzzy ANP-TOPSIS Decision Model

The identification of appropriate locations for wind energy development is a complex problem that involves several factors, ranging from technical to socio-economic and environmental aspects. Wind site selection generally associated with high degrees uncertainty due the long planning, design, construction, operational timescales. Thus, there crucial need develop efficient methods are capable capturing uncertainties in subjective assessments provided by different stakeholders diverse views. This paper proposes novel multi-criteria decision model integrating fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) technique order performance similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) evaluate prioritize potential sites power development. Four major criteria, namely economic, social, technical, geographical, nine sub-criteria identified based on consultation farm investors, regulatory bodies, landowners residents, developers operators, component suppliers, ecologists, GIS analysts. stakeholders’ preferences regarding relative importance criteria measured using logarithmic least squares method, then alternative prioritized their closeness positive solution. proposed applied determine most constructing an onshore plant consisting 10 turbines 2.5 MW. Finally, results discussed compared those obtained traditional AHP, ANP ANP-TOPSIS decision-making approaches.
